Inspiring future engineers through Airships XR

The education aspect of the Airships XR project is really taking shape. Dr Atif Ghani from the Royal College of Art leads the development of the multimodal immersive educational experience that combines history, engineering and cutting-edge technology.

By teaching engineering and physics principles in an interactive and innovative way, the projects aims to inspire future careers, not only in engineering but also in creative arts and technology. With this integrated approach the project intends to help develop a broad and highly employable cohort of graduates.

To promote the project Dr Atif Ghani and his team are attending a number of education and technology events including BETT (Jan 2026) and Digifest (10/11 March 2026).

In the run-up to Digifest, organisers Jisc talked to Dr Atif Ghani and wrote an interesting feature about Airships XR which highlights the aims of the project and the thinking behind it.
