Volunteering and
Work Experience

Work Experience

NEW for 2026! We are offering up to 25 work experiences places for Year 10 students for the week of 29th June to 3rd July 2026.

The programme will be delivered at Bedford Heights and will include workshops, talks and hands-on experiences/tasks.

If you are a student (or a school with students) in need of a placement, please get in touch by emailing info@bedfordcreativearts.org.uk.

This is a great opportunity for students to experience what it’s like to work for an arts charity, from project funding, planning and delivery to marketing and more.

When emailing us, please provide the following information:

  • Your name and age
  • Which Secondary school you attend and contact details (email or phone number) for the person who coordinates work experience at your school
  • The reason why you are interested in doing work experience at Bedford Creative Arts.

Please note we do not accept applications made by parents or guardians.

Volunteering

BCA operates a Volunteers’ programme that invites people to help in different areas of our practical delivery.

You receive full training and supervision and are invited to meet other volunteers and creatives working with BCA. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and experience the life of a busy arts organisation.

Volunteering opportunities could include stewarding at events, assisting artists in running workshops, setting-up or taking-down exhibitions or artwork, surveying members of the public about our work and undertaking research.

The nature and range of opportunities varies depending on our current programmes of work. Opportunities may not be frequent, therefore, and we encourage volunteers to register their availability with us and be open to being invited to opportunities as and when they occur throughout the year.

To register as a Volunteer, please contact Bex Foskett on 01234 818670 or bexf@bedfordcreativearts.org.uk.

Work Placements

Young people who are interested in arts and creativity are welcome to apply for a work placement. Applications for work placements will be assessed on a case by case basis.

We may not always be able to accommodate work placements at a time to suit the applicant, however we will do our best to consider any applications that come in.

We are aware that the arts sector is not as diverse as the residents who live here. Therefore if we have limited work placement opportunities available we will prioritise people who come from an under-represented background.

To enquire about a work placement please contact info@bedfordcreativearts.org.uk and provide information on:

  • Yourself, your skills and interests and why you’d like to do a placement with us
  • The dates when you would like your placement to take place
  • Any access needs you may have to help you undertake a placement.

We interview all applicants before offering a work placement.
