‘Held’ Migration Theatre Group

A theatre group for first generation migrants, refugees and asylum seekers

Artists & Associates

‘Held’ builds on the success of Tugging at the Sea, a pilot theatre project supporting refugee and asylum seeker wellbeing through creative workshops. Running from 2025 to 2027, this expanded programme will offer regular theatre sessions in Bedford, delivered in partnership with PBIC Bedford and hosted by local venues such as The Place Bedford and the Polish House (TBC).

The project aims to create a sustainable, locally rooted migrant theatre group that supports participants in building confidence, developing new skills, and connecting with others.

Alongside the workshops, participants will engage with The Flowers of Srebrenica, a new stage adaptation exploring themes of displacement and resilience. Bedford participants will attend a performance in London, take part in creative response workshops, and have the opportunity to share their own work locally.
