Community Ambassadors
Our Community Ambassadors are Bedfordshire-based volunteers who act as a sounding board for our current and future work. They offer their views, highlight issues to ensure our work is relevant, representative, and inclusive, and share ideas that could shape projects. They also help advocate for BCA and spread news through their networks.

Become a Community Ambassador
Community Ambassador
A Community Ambassador is someone who volunteers their time to support the work of BCA.
They are usually someone who lives in Bedfordshire and in some way represents a community that BCA is working with on a project or might work with in the future. They might be a resident from a particular background whose views we want to include in our work, or they might be a community leader such as a charity worker that knows something about the opinions, issues, values and challenges of a particular community.
Our Community Ambassadors are an important sounding board for our work both now and for future activities that are being planned. They can help by offering their views on the work we’re doing, helping to point out issues we might need to consider to ensure we are being relevant, representative and inclusive, as well as offering exciting ideas that might help to shape a project. They can also help to advocate for our work and to spread the news of what we’re doing through their networks.
Becoming a BCA Community Ambassador is a fantastic opportunity to give back to your local community while gaining valuable experiences. As an Ambassador, you’ll have the chance to share your perspectives on our creative work, expand your network by meeting artists and producers, and be the first to hear about new projects and developments. You’ll also learn how charity governance works, socialise with other creatives, and play a part in shaping how our work supports local communities.
In this volunteer role, we ask Ambassadors to meet with BCA staff around twice a year, attend at least two events or workshops, and provide feedback on our work’s quality and relevance. Ambassadors also help raise awareness by signposting others to our projects and advocating for BCA within their communities. Your insights help us reflect, grow, and stay connected to the people we serve.
In return, we’ll support you with covered expenses, optional training (like equality & diversity or marketing), and invitations to exclusive events and networking opportunities. Ambassadors also receive regular newsletters, branded materials to show their involvement, and a profile on our website to recognise their contribution as valued members of the BCA team.
