News, News, News empowers school children to find their voice by sharing their views of the place where they live. It also reflects on the value of journalism by representing modern forms of media.

News News News was a co-created theatre project created by Andy Field and Beckie Darlington in collaboration with Beaudesert Lower School and Central Bedfordshire.

News News News is a television news show made by children for adults. The children explored topics of importance to them, interviewed relevant contributors and brought all the information together for a live TV show. The show is recorded in front of a studio audience and broadcast live uninterrupted from the theatre to an audience of potentially billions.

Andy Field and Beckie Darlington worked with 12 children from Beaudesert Lower School to present the latest news from the area, offering a distinctive look at what’s going on right here and right now for young people.

The Leighton Buzzard show was funded by Arts Council England, Central Bedfordshire Council and the Whitbred PLC Chairman’s Fund via BLCF.

How does it work?

Artists Andy Field and Beckie Darlington will work alongside 10 children for three weeks in February-March 2023.  Andy and Beckie will help them decide what kind of news they want to tell and then enable their investigations around the local area. They will help them record interviews and present it all as a news story during a live theatre performance.

The Live Performance

The final performance was performed at Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre. The audience participated by being interviewed by the children at some last-minute news gathering.
