Laura Avril Dove
Laura is a Community Artist and Trainee Art Therapist from Bedfordshire. She has a fascination for how creativity and humans interlink, and graduated in Visual Communication at Leeds College of Art, 2013. Her artistic experience was then enriched by nine years of living in Uganda, drawing inspiration from diverse environments. She worked at a play organisation, then became an art teacher, and later co-founded a Community-based arts organisation called Tambularts in 2021. She returned to the UK in 2022 and the exhibited art is from this recent time period, now working as a Museum professional.
Her art is experimental and bold. It explores the concept of pleasure and how to visually conceptualise feelings. She is intrigued at how written word can combine with visual symbol – and this is something she also practices in her works and journalling. She admires the fragility and emotion attached to a flower, which she has explored in recent works. Laura is passionate about bringing people together in the name of art.
