Your River, Your Choice – the Results are In!

Over the past year, the Kempston community has come together through creative workshops, open conversations, and hands-on design sessions as part of our River / Flow / Connect project — an initiative exploring how art, nature, and public space can come together to celebrate local voices.
A few months ago, we invited you to take part in an exciting community campaign, featuring three sculpture concepts and potential riverside locations, all designed collaboratively by artist Sam Williams and the people of Kempston. You shared your thoughts, your stories, and — most importantly — your votes for the sculpture that best represented our shared vision.
After an incredible response and so many thoughtful votes, we’re thrilled to announce that the winning sculpture is… The Knowledge Garden!

This beautiful concept will take root at Kempston Mill Landing Stage, where we hope it will soon blossom into a lasting symbol of creativity, connection, and community spirit along the riverside path.
We want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part — from families and young people to local artists and residents. Your ideas and enthusiasm have helped shape something truly special for Kempston.
Your river. Your choice.
Stay tuned for updates on how you can help us bring The Knowledge Garden to life and continue to grow the creative energy flowing through our town.
