Over the last couple of months, we’ve had a new staff member join the team and two people join our board.
Introducing our new projects assistant, Georgia Goodman! We are utterly delighted that Georgia will be working with us for the next two years as our new projects assistant. Georgia has been studying Visual Arts at University of Wolverhampton and has decided to take a break from her studies to gain some work experience in the sector! Georgia has worked on creative projects in the Midlands, including community workshops for the British Art Show 9. You can watch a clip of Georgia introducing the exhibition here. Currently, Georgia is supporting our Culture Clubs and project administration and you’ll see her pop up at many of our events so please say hello!
Georgia’s role is supported by generous funding from The Harpur Trust and will continue until March 2025. She takes over the role from our former Projects Assistant, Jack Keenan, who (after a brief period supporting BCA’s marketing activities) is now moving on to deliver a producing role for nearby organisation Revoluton Arts. Congratulations, Jack!
We recently said goodbye to our long-serving Chair and Trustee, Richard Sobey who has completed 6 years supporting BCA in a voluntary capacity. Richard has steered the organisation through two NPO rounds and a pandemic and provided fantastic insight and support to the staff team. Vice-Chair Sam Matthews temps up to the role as Chair for the forthcoming year and the Board have been joined by two new trustees, Sammy Maitland and Anita Kumari.
Sammy is a curator, recently working for Departure Lounge in Luton and now works in London. Anita is Head of People and Operations for New Arts Exchange and has a wealth of experience across a range of sectors including in HR and operations management but also leading on equality and diversity practise.
