Sheffield International Documentary Festival: Airship Dream – Escaping Gravity

June 2022

Airship Dreams: Escaping Gravity made its debut at Sheffield International Documentary Festival, known as DocFest, on 23rd – 28th June.

Escaping Gravity was showcased within the DocFest Alternate Realities programme as a work that combines advances in technology with creativity and imagination to find new ways of exploring non-fiction. The full-room immersive digital installation interrogates the human desire for progress, adventure and the unknown through the lens of Britain’s Imperial Airship programme.

Last year DocFest  hosted a hybrid edition, with over 45,000 virtual and in-person attendances and 2056 industry delegates from over 70 countries. Those are impressive figures which they intend to smash this year and Airship Dreams will be in front of that large and influential audience.

The Sheffield venue was provided by Event Central part of the Future High Street in collaboration with Access Space.

Originally commissioned by Bedford Creative Arts and The Higgins Art Gallery & Museum Bedford in collaboration with Lead Artist Mike Stubbs.
