Shaping Bedford’s Future: Launch of a New Cultural Vision

Bedford is entering an exciting new chapter – and you are invited to be part of it. On Wednesday 1 October 2025, from 5pm to 6:30pm at The Quarry Theatre, the town’s new Cultural Vision for 2030 will be unveiled at a special public launch event.
Developed by the Bedford Cultural Partnership (BCP) – a growing alliance of cultural organisations working alongside Bedford Borough Council and the University of Bedfordshire – this new vision champions culture as a driver for social, creative and economic growth.
Currently operating as an informal action group, the BCP is laying the groundwork for a strategic Cultural Compact that will guide the borough’s cultural future and strengthen initiatives such as the Bedford Arts & Cultural Education (BACE) network.
Who is involved?
The Bedford Cultural Partnership brings together a wide and diverse group of local organisations, including:
- Bedford Borough Council
- University of Bedfordshire
- Bedford Creative Arts
- Philharmonia Orchestra
- Full House Theatre
- 1 Degree East
- The Quarry Theatre
- The Place Bedford
- Just Purple Presents
- Ananda Arts
- BookTastic
Our vision for 2030
By 2030, Bedford Borough will be recognised as a role model for cultural democracy – a place where creative communities across the borough shape, enjoy and make culture together.
The Cultural Vision is built on three core priorities:
- Build a community-led cultural democracy
- Widen inclusion of voices and audiences
- Develop culture as a strategic priority in placemaking
