Sharing Stories is a multi-arts project for and with first-generation migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and their advocates. This collaboration between communities and artists explores migrant stories, narratives and reflections through a range of artistic practices. At this sharing event at The Place Theatre you can expect an immersive and deeply human experience, inviting you to step inside stories and not simply hear them.
Explore an installation that reimagines a bazaar and the stories it holds. Encounter a sensory landscape of home to understand what it means to belong. Connect with stories of migration through poetry, writing and recordings and listen to new musical compositions to hear them unfold.
In partnership with Cafe Connect, HopeWorks and Beyond Detention, commissioned artists Atiya Vohra, Jasmin Lea Diermann Codd, Chanique Waithe and musicians and composers from Hear Me Out represent migrant participant stories with care, compassion and creativity.
