As a recent graduate from a dual Fine Art & Illustration degree, working within an arts company was high on my list of aspirations. Working for Bedford Creative Arts is my first stepping stone into the realm of Arts Admin, and everyone here (and their dogs!) has given me a warm welcome. I’ve joined the team for a six month internship and was interested in this role as it links to my degree work.

I’m most looking forward to networking at Creative Bedfordshire which I hope will build my confidence when meeting new people, and I’m looking to improve upon my versatile administrative skillset whilst working in a creative environment.

Working within Bedford Creative Arts has been an entertaining experience so far and certainly keeps me on my toes. I’m really enjoying the flexibility of my job role as an ‘Assistant Producer’, and the spontaneity of new work objectives has taught me to expect the unexpected throughout my work day. Each day brings new challenges that I enjoy tackling head on, even though I do feel like a fish out of water at times.

After only being here for a few weeks I have already learnt so much, and I am ready to sink my teeth into more creative projects as my time here goes on!

Opinion: Which tribe are you?

As Grayson Perry has observed, “most people want to fit in with their tribe in some way or another, so they give off signals, whether it’s with their clothes, their behavior, their car, their whatever, and gain status . . . and the signals are an unconscious display of who you are and where you
