Creative Bedfordshire Parkside Takeover

12:30 - 17:30   08/03/2017

Description

  • Writing Workshops • Free 1to1s • Startup Advice • Drop-in Space

Come and spend an afternoon focused on your creative business. On 8th March Creative Bedfordshire is taking over the whole of Parkside Hall, Ampthill from 12.30 – 17.30 with a series of practical writing workshops, 1to1 clinics and the opportunity to work together on solving problems that might be holding your creative business back.

There are a number of options. Mix and match them as you please. All content is either free, or in the case of the workshops, heavily subsidised. Everything (including the intention to drop-in and work in the hall) must be booked in advance.

The idea behind all the Parkside Takeover content is to help remove barriers. They say a problem shared is a problem halved…and let’s hope it might be a problem nailed.

Registration for the Writing Workshops is now closed.
We are running a waiting-list for the Writing Workshops.

Please contact sandrad@bedfordcreativearts.org.uk with the words ‘Artist Statements’, ‘Funding Applications’, and ‘Working with the Local Press’ in the title to enquire about Writing Workshop places.

Registration for • Free 1to1s • Startup Advice • Drop-in Space • remains open.

A big thank you to everyone involved in delivering the Parkside Takeover: Jane Adams and Kerry Young from the Royal Literary Fund Writing Project, Erica Roffe of the Bedford Clanger and Bedpop, JamCrackers, Bonfire CI, Velocity, Central Bedfordshire Libraries, to Parkside Hall for hosting us and to our funders Central Bedfordshire Council and Bedford Borough Council.

Parkside Takeover at a glance

Writing with Purpose Workshops

Join professional writers Jane Adams, Kerry Young and Erica Roffe to workshop Artist Statements, Funding Applications, and Working with the Local Press. Each workshop costs £10 and is available to a maximum of 10 people.

Trouble Shooting Clinics – Writing

The workshop leaders Jane, Kerry and Erica are also bookable for a limited number of free 1to1 single-question clinics within the topics of profile writing, funding application writing and PR. Each 1to1 is free, and last 20 minutes. Places are limited.

Trouble Shooting Clinics – IT and Digital Files

Book 20 minutes with an expert to trouble shoot a nagging IT and digital file problem. The options are open but here are some ideas…

  • Represent yourself with the web name you want in 2017 and feel secure about your IT. Ask IT experts JamCrackers how to register or change a domain, or to how to back-up your files or secure all your devices.
  • Put an end to blurry print results or the ‘this file is too large to email/upload’ messages! Ask a designer from Bonfire CI to trouble shoot an individual file. Let a design expert help you understand the right format, the right resolution and file size for your specific need, or learn how to output or transfer files to others more efficiently.

Each 1to1 is free, and lasts 20 minutes. Places are limited.

Get started and get out there

Book a free slot to talk through how you might approach and pilot a new idea with a small budget

  •  Talk to Bisola Orimalade from Velocity for business start-up advice.
  • Speak to Liz Roberts, Marketing and Engagement Officer from Central Bedfordshire Libraries to explore how you might work together with a local Library and Central Bedfordshire Libraries’ social media to host or promote your work / event.

Each 1to1 is free, and lasts 20 minutes. Places are limited.

Creative (business) Space

Use the space at Parkside as a chance to work on your business away from your usual environment. Drop-in, switch off your phone and use the free wifi to tick a business task off your list. You must pre-register in order to drop-in.

Go to the Bedford Creative Arts Eventbrite to view the options and book.

If you work in the arts, run a creative business, are a freelance artist, actor, producer, maker or musician (or commission them), or are just curious, this network is for you. Creative Bedfordshire events take place across Bedfordshire. Creative Bedfordshire is delivered by Bedford Creative Arts, thanks to the support of Central Bedfordshire Council and Bedford Borough Council.
