A solitary figure in a heavily patterned baroque sitting room to an old abandoned toy discarded by its owner can be the subjects of Kemi Onabule's
paintings. The particulars of domesticity and its disquieting and varied aesthetic are what she explores in her work.
After completing her BA in Fine Art: Painting at Wimbledon College of Arts 2016, Kemi has been making work in London and Bedford. In the year since graduating her artwork has been featured in several group shows and competitions including the HIX Award, Clyde and Co Award and the upcoming Ingram Collection: Young Artist Purchase Prize in December.
‘Clear Day Out’ 2017, acrylic on canvas.
