As a team we make art happen anywhere and work collaboratively with artists and communities to create new experiences for people to enjoy and be part of.

Based in Bedford, our core team work from a converted Victorian house alongside 7 studio artists who are also based in the building.

Most of our creative thinking is scrawled across our blackboard walls and we tend to make the most of the studio like space. (If you find us with large post-it notes in hand you know something’s about to go down!)

We are always keen to hear from artists who are interested in working with us. If you are interested in collaborating with people and places, and would like to make a proposal for our future programme please contact us  or come along to one of our Contemporary Artists Bedfordshire events.

Programme Producer

Bedford Creative Arts is seeking to recruit a creative individual to lead on the design of our ambitious artistic programme.

In this new role, the Programme Producer will be responsible for engaging with partners and communities to identify their needs and commission creative interventions that respond to them. This will result in a strategic programme of socially-engaged artistic projects and commissions.

This will involve responsibility for developing programme concepts, research, identifying and nurturing partners, engaging community participants, raising funds for projects, commissioning artists from a variety of disciplines, and recruiting project teams to deliver the programme.

Bedford Creative Arts is an arts charity that has been producing participatory arts projects for more than 30 years that explore issues of social justice, challenge the status quo and raise questions that have the potential to influence practice and policy-making. We are a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England and a leading regional provider of cultural education projects alongside our ambitious programme of community commissions.

The role is not required to undertake project delivery; instead developing and resourcing an engaging programme of collaborative artworks, and then commissioning a team of freelance producers and project managers to action their delivery.

You will oversee artist development to ensure that projects nurture the talented creative and delivery personnel required to deliver them. This will require excellent interpersonal skills and creativity, as well as experience of fundraising and producing to take projects from inception to launch.

This is a new role in the organisation and presents an exciting opportunity for a post-holder to grow in the role and shape the future of our programme.

Hours of Work: This position is offered for 22.5 hours per week (3 days). These hours can be worked flexibly.

The Bedford Creative Arts Board of Trustees is seeking enthusiastic and experienced professionals to join them to help develop and support our work.

Bedford Creative Arts creates transformative cultural experiences that directly engage with people from all walks of life. Working with artists and other cultural practitioners we deliver cultural programmes and commissions for diverse communities, in particular those who experience difficulty accessing mainstream cultural activities or otherwise feel isolated or excluded.

We need trustees who can bring innovative ideas and enthusiasm for our values of engage/include/inspire, as well as excellent judgement, to help us to achieve our objectives and take on future challenges.

We operate a rolling recruitment programme but are particularly looking for trustees with business or fundraising development skills and experience.

As one of our trustees you would have the opportunity to support a unique, passionate and driven charity, which has a transformative impact on the communities it works with.

Our Board sets the strategy for the organisation and delegates authority to the Chief Executive for all operational matters. The role is voluntary, with all reasonable expenses paid.

To be a trustee you must be able to attend a 2-hour board meeting in Bedford every 6 weeks, any extra hours or activities are at the discretion of each trustee.

This is both an exciting and challenging time for the Trust and individuals with these skills will boost the already impressive portfolio of talents represented on the Board.

If you think you have the qualities we are looking for contact
