The first Bedford Fun Palace is taking place on the 3rd and 4th of October 2015 and Bedford Creative Arts is looking for an artist to be part of it. The Bedpop Fun Palace is a town-wide mix of art, technology and science and will offer a plethora of exciting activities for all age groups. The Fun Palace is being brought to Bedford by the Bedpop team, headed by Erica Roffe and Cat Moore. Here they explain the Fun Palace ethos,
“We believe in the genius of everyone, in everyone as an artist and everyone a scientist, and that arts and sciences can change the world for the better. We believe we can do this together, locally, with radical fun.
The BedPop Fun Palaces will take place in 5 town centre locations and combine art, literature, science, engineering, illustration, architecture, technology, 3D design, food science, music, performance and dance.
We want to break down the barriers to art and science, bring them right into the heart of the town centre and deliver exciting and interactive events that inspire, enrich and encourage Bedford’s future artists and scientists.”
Bedford Creative Arts are pleased to be collaborating with the Bedpop to offer a specific Fun Palace Mini Commission. We would like an artist/artists to develop an interactive art experience that can take place in the town centre. It must be family-friendly and be accessible to a wide age range.
The Mini Commissions are funds of up to £500 and are open to professional and amateur artists, curators and producers living in the Bedfordshire area who have a good idea that aligns with our artistic policy, and in this case, the Fun Palace ethos.
The deadline for applications is 12 Noon, Friday the 10th July. For an application pack please click Mini Commissions application pack summer 2015.
