Airship Dreamers: Parachute experiment

We have another fun science experiment for you Airship Dreamers – continuing our exploration into the science of flight, today we’re going to make our very own parachutes!
Sita Thomas talks to Little Science Lab’s Kristina Castle, who will show us how to make the parachutes and conduct an experiment looking at the forces of ‘gravity’ and ‘air resistance’. All you need is a square of material (it could be from a plastic bag or a sheet of paper for example), some wool or string, scissors and some sellotape – plus a small plastic toy that will be your parachutist!
Share your images or short videos of your experiments with us at hello@airshipdreams.com or tweet us using #AirshipDreams and receive your very own Airship Dreamers Badge!
Airship Dreamers Club is a fun and educational resource for those that love using their imagination and learning about what makes things tick. To become a member and receive a fun wallchart and to find out how to get involved visit www.airshipdreams.com.
Airship Dreamers Club is part of the Airship Dreams project, an artistic enquiry into Bedford’s airship heritage, drawing on the local community’s collective memory and imagination to explore our relationship with flight and air travel. Following a call-out to the community to share airship memories, artefacts and fantasies for an online archive, the project will culminate in a major exhibition at Higgins Bedford in April 2021.
