As part of our programme we have several ‘hidden’ workshops and events  that are closed to the public but are an important part of what we do, one of those programmes is Team Create.  Associate Producer Kerrie Duggan writes about the last terms workshops and we will be looking forward to more regular blogs about this terms work at the end of September.

TeamCreate is a group currently based in Dunstable and is a focused Creativity for Wellbeing programme.

Working collaboratively with talented artists and people of Dunstable which enhances creativity and enriches lives.

The programme sits within a larger commission called Dump it on Parliament and we used this as the theme throughout.

The Team consists of people from Mind and the 6th form at Weatherfield Academy and is made up of ages from 18-65.

The Team have learnt many new skills and practices, such as: Lyric writing and song making with Artists Roshi and Spon from UK Decay.

Screen Printing with artist Oscar Whale from Broad Street Basement Press http://www.bsbp.bigcartel.com, plus punk make-up and hair with MUA Maria Samuel http://mariasamuel.co.uk

Other practices have included researching the punk era, designing slogans and curating a small exhibition.

The overall commission has been led by artists Dash n Dem http://www.dashndem.com.

It has been really good fun and we have all really enjoyed collaborating together and watching the project unfold beautifully. I’m looking forward to more TeamCreate action at the end of September.

The exhibition will be up in Dunstable Library till Monday 28th September and is open to all.
